The South West Coast Path
The South West Coast Path is the UK's ultimate challenge for the long distance walker - A 630 mile gruelling adventure around the coastline of the South West peninsula. It links Minehead in Somerset with South Haven Point, the southern entrance of Poole harbour in Dorset.
The average time taken to complete the walk is about 8 weeks. I plan to do it in 31 days. It has been calculated that the equivalent of nearly 4 times the height of Everest will have been climbed on completion of this walk. Apart from that, it should be fairly easy !!
How It All Started
Apart from my many interests, including fishing, music, gardening plus others you probably don't want to know about, I've always enjoyed walking. Whether it was on Dartmoor or many sections of the Coast Path. I particularly enjoyed the Coast Path Walks and frequently told the long suffering Lorraine (my wife) : "One day I will walk the entire Coast Path." After about the twentieth time of this boast, I was told "To walk the walk not talk the walk." "Ok" I said. "Just watch. I will." Ooops !! (July 2009)
